Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 5, 2026
The short version: we collect nothing. Your location history never reaches us — Fog Walk has no servers, no analytics, no ads, and no way for anyone but you to see where you have been.
Location data
Fog Walk uses your device's location for one purpose: revealing the map around you as you move. Your location is processed entirely on your device. The app stores two things, both in files on your device: a grid of the areas you have revealed, and your trips (the routes you traveled, with times, used to draw them on your map and detect whether you walked, ran, rode, or drove).
Once you open Fog Walk, it keeps revealing the map during your walk or drive even while your phone is locked or another app is in front — iOS shows the standard location indicator whenever this is happening. Recording stops when you force-quit the app.
You can stop location access at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Fog Walk. The app remains fully usable for viewing your already-revealed map.
iCloud sync
If you are signed in to iCloud, your revealed-area grid syncs to your private iCloud database so your progress appears on your other devices. This data lives in your personal iCloud account, protected by Apple's encryption, and is accessible only to you. The developer of Fog Walk cannot read, access, or export anything in your private iCloud database. Your trip routes are not synced — they never leave the device they were recorded on.
If you are not signed in to iCloud, nothing ever leaves your device.
What we do not do
- No accounts, sign-ups, or profiles
- No analytics or usage tracking of any kind
- No advertising and no ad identifiers
- No third-party SDKs or data sharing
- No sale of data — we have no data to sell
Children's privacy
Fog Walk does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Deleting your data
Delete the app to remove all local data. To remove synced data from your iCloud account as well: Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Fog Walk → Delete Data.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Because the app's design makes data collection impossible without a fundamental rewrite, meaningful changes are unlikely.
